When you tap the mic, DESHANK listens for commands like "record" and "stop listening". The mic stays on between shots until you say "stop listening", tap the mic again, lock your screen or leave the page – or after about 5 minutes without a command. A listening indicator shows the whole time.
While the session is on, your browser sends what the mic hears to its speech service to turn it into text: Google on Chrome and Android, Apple on iPhone and Safari. That can include conversations and other people's voices nearby. DESHANK never receives your audio, and we don't keep what's said – only commands do anything.
Under 18? Check with your parent or guardian first. Prefer not to? Use the on-screen buttons instead – everything works without the mic.
